These messages tell young women how they should live and express their sexual freedom during their ‘prime’ years. Messages given by society about sexual freedom are contradicting which cause women to feel anxious and confused on how to express themselves in relationships. In between all this confusion men have taken advantage of these vulnerable women who are trying exercise their sexual freedom. We live in a society in which people think they know everything, especially when it comes to sex and relationships, so they tell others to do this, do that. Bell gives multiple examples of these messages, one is when she states â€Å"Be assertive but not aggressive. Be feminine, but not passive. Be sexually adventurous, don’t alienate men with your sexual prowess. Be h onest and open, but don’t overwhelm someone with too much personal information† (Bell 26). These messages tell women how they should act in relationships but don’t ‘overdue it’ or else you just look unattainable. It’s like a coach telling their player to play good but not too good. What does that even mean? This question for sure crosses women’s mind when they read blogs and articles about sexual freedom and how to live with this freedom. But is it really young women’s fault that they are confused? The answer is no, most messages are contradicting.
